Avnet management initiated a master data integration program to manage the quality of parts data and introduce semantic integration to better absorb and categorize product data from both supplier catalogs and customer requests for quotations.

Avnet Electronics Marketing deals with over 140 franchise product suppliers. Each supplier has an electronics part catalog with accompanying identifying information for each part – part number, part description, minimum order quantity (MOQ), and pricing structures, among others. The suppliers provide the catalog data to Avnet on a periodic basis, depending on the frequency of changes to the product lines or their identifying data.
